Hey everyone, Has anyone ever taught at a school for one year and moved on? I'm sure plenty have and I'm just wondering what your experiences were like. I already know my current site is not a good fit for me. It's only a part time position so at least when my contract is up I can state that it's because I'm seeking full time employment. I am currently on a temporary contract and it's teaching an elective.
We have had several people leave after one year. Some were let go and some chose to leave. We have had people leave to start families and move closer to family, mostly.
Yes, I left one school after 1.5 years and another after one year. I had valid reasons in both cases, so it wasn’t a big deal.
No, it was a charter school, and I was an at-will employee. I could choose to leave at any time, and they could choose to let me go at any time. I found a better job, so I left.
Yes. It was not an easy year (personally and professionally) but I did my best, then got another job out of state. My principal was very understanding.
