Smile Best valentine ideas

Hi everybody,
I just wondered what your best/favourite valentine craft is.

Here'e mine:
Fold a piece of card in half for you Valentine card.
Trace a large heart in the centre.
Distribute tissue paper squares that are about the size of your thumb nail.
Pink, purple and red are very effective.
Have the children scrunch up each square.
Trace around the heart (outline only!)with a glue stick.
The children then stick the tissue paper to the glue in a colour pattern.
The tissue paper looks like tiny roses.

It get's admired every time i make it.
Enjoy!

There is a cute 3-D pop-up card in the February (p. 24) Good Housekeeping magazine. It says to go to www.robertsabuda.com
Click on Explore Pop-ups then on Simple Pop-ups for a pattern and instructions.

Clear plastic page protectors...cut out a heart and staple the two pieces in the center.
paper punch around it and lace it with pink or red ribbon(curling ribbon works nicely) Leave an opening at the top. Remove the staple.
Fill it with anything about Valentine's Day, pink , red, & white lace, felt hearts, bows, feathers, jewelry, cotton balls in pink and purple, pretty ribbons and materials...
Then tie the top and curl the ribbons. When you hang these up , you will not believe how pretty they are and all the comments you will get.
My 4 and 5 year olds made them with my help.

Cut 2 squares of clear adhesive contact about 15cm x 15cm for each child. Peel the backing paper off one square and leave the contact sticky side up. Use 1 - 2cm square pieces of cellophane in red and pink and lay them on the contact until it is completely covered.

Peel the backing off the other piece of contact and lay it over the first piece sandwiching the cellophane in the middle. Use a permanent marker to trace a heart shape on one side of the contact. Cut out along the line.

Use sticky tape to tape the hearts to a window - Instant stained glass window! They look very pretty when the sun comes in!

You can use this idea for any holiday craft. Just change the colours and the shape. At christmas we use multi colours and cut out tree, stocking and bell shapes. At Easter we cut out - you guessed it - Easter egg shapes!

My kindergartens can do all of this activity by themselves. They just need help to peel off the backing paper!

This has been a favorite with my class in the past:

Quote:
Trace and cutout child's hand from desired colored paper. Cut another colored paper in half (taco cut). Fold down the middle and ring finger of the hand and glue down - this will give you the sign "I love you" in sign language. Glue the hand to the bottom of the construction paper. At the top of the paper print "I Love You" then sign name. Some of my preschoolers went as far as making fingernails on the middle and ring fingers.
