Newbie in Virginia

Hi. My name is Alyce. I graduated in May with my Elementary Education degree. This is my second degree and going back to become a teacher was the best thing I have done for myself. I have 2 children a girl (10) and boy (2). I am applying for jobs, however it seems I have to wait until I take the Praxis II (this Sat.) and the VRA before I will be considered.

I am originally from Nebraska and moved here in January.

Where in Virginia are you looking?
I used to teach (and live) in Virginia Beach.

I live in Chesapeake and have only applied with them so far. I student taught in Virginia Beach (Providence). I am considering applying at VBPS, however I really do not want to drive 40 minutes or more one way.

We just moved here in January and I love it here.

The drive from Chesapeake would probably not be lovely, especially if you are taking the tunnel (midtown tunnel, right?). I think I used to go to inservices in Chesapeake and the tunnel always killed me--people were forever breaking down in that thing and stopping up the traffic. It is a lovely area to live in though--I used to love being so close to the beach!

I do not have to take the tunnel to get there, however we live right off the Chesapeake Expressway about 3 miles from North Carolina. The traffic here is unbelieveable. Where are you in NY. I would love to live in NYC, however my husband would never go for it. I lived in Long Beach for a year when I graduated high school.

I'm upstate NY (Rochester right now, Buffalo for graduate school in September) but my twin lives in Queens. I wouldn't want to live there, but I visit her every so often, and she adores it and would live in Manhattan if her budget would allow.
