Creeping crud!
Has anyone else been plagued by this lovely thing? I got sick last Thursday. I made it Friday by luck. I was dragging. The fever hit on Saturday. My normal temp is 97.3 but I was hitting just over 102 Saturday. I made it for an hour or so on Monday because my kids had a big test. Then I begged for the sub to show up early and left. I'm still getting over it. We are having a lot of people out with viruses but they are mostly of the stomach variety.
The LEAP test is next week so we are all stressing. I'm sure that is contributing to the illnesses as well. (My dr looked back over my file while I was in there and said, "You know...you usually only make it in here once a year and for the past few years it has always been in March!" Gee...wonder why?

Yes! I am finally getting over it. It started the middle of last week. I made it to school everyday because it was my last week of my first placement of student teaching. I could barely get out of bed Friday, but I went because it was my last day with my kindergarten. I felt better over the weekend, but got much worse Monday. I made it through school because it was my first day in my new placement, but I had a 102 fever when I got home. I hit the bed as soon as I walked in the door. I couldn't get in to the doctor until Tuesday afternoon, so I survived half a day at school Tuesday. This could not have happened at a worse time. I switched placements, and it is test time! They are taking the Iowa test now, and I have to be there. I am a monitor and there are not enough of us to go around. To top it all off, my husband has been sicker than I have. He has been in bed since Sunday. Thank goodness we don't have kids yet! I don't know what I would have done. It is bad enough taking care of him!

My principal told me today that if I get sick over the weekend, call him. He'll make sure the hospital bed is placed in my room. Short of death...I will be there next week! Next week is our testing week also. LEAP...gotta love it!

Yep, my parents both got it 2 weeks ago and are just now feeling better, my hubby was sick all last week, and I slipped by with a low-grade fever and a runny nose for a couple of days. (Sorry to rub it in... I was taking lots of echinachea, so maybe that helped???)

Christy--I think I had that a few weeks ago, but my fever was up over 103. It was awful, I almost had to go to the hospital as it just wouldn't break. I really kicked off the flu season around here--after I had it, everyone around the classrooms has been getting sick. My kids all have colds right now.

My youngest just got over it, he scared me. He's almost two and his fever hit 105. Thank God the Tylenol brought it down quickly. I'm not a big hospital with a toddler fan. Three of my co-workers have it. I'm "lucky", I got the worst part last weekend on our first 70 degree wekend of the season. I attribute ours to the change in weather. We jump from Winter to Summer in less than a week most of the time. Which is why everybody here ends up sick at this time of year. We go from 50's to 90's to 40's to 90's. Whose immune system can handle that? The weather should balance out after this one week of Spring by next Wednesday, and then it will just be hot.
I hope you all feel better soon.

Here's what I don't understand, and I bet you girls deal with it constantly- why do people send their obviously sick kids to classes?
Last week a child was visibly ill at my daughter's gym class. She was flushed, tired looking, and she looked like she wanted to vomit.
The mom was upset with her for not participating!!! She was yelling at her through the windows, right in front of the other kids and parents.
I'm sorry, but I don't care if we do pay for these classes. Shouldn't the child be kept home where it can be medicated and rest??

If a parent sends their child to school sick, we would send him/her to the nurse's office. In extreme cases, parents don't answer the phone and the poor kid has to stay in the nurse's office all day. I think it's just seen as an inconvenience to those parents. Most parents will do everything they can for their kids though.
As for the gym class, the people in charge should have a policy that sick children won't be allowed to participate. Although, that would seem obvious... apparently some parents need to be told.

In the day care (in a grocery store) I work in there was a visiblly ill child but we cannot turn anyone way( get this even kids with pink eye or hand, foot, mouth disease) so I had to let her in. She colored for a little bit and then almost passed out on the couch. When her mom came to pick her up she really didn't look good and before I knew it BLAHHH! She threw up all over me !!! Oh I felt so bad for her , her mom was really nice and really embarrased. But why bring your kids outside, to the grocery store of all places ,if they are sick ??? I'm just getting over my cold going on 2 weeks!

Sounds like what I've had since Sunday. I went to the doctor today and finally actually called into work (McDonalds, my night/weekend job).
