Ever noticed how much of a rip off it is for finger printing fees in the State of Florida

Apparently, you have to have a finger print processing done for EACH COUNTY in the state that you apply for, it's not state wide.

Also, I think you have to have more than ONE finger printing session for each REASON you're getting finger printed.

Finger Printing to get your teaching cert. 58.00 bucks

Fingerprinting to work at a school another 58 bucks

Finger Printing if you want to teach in other counties (58 bucks PER county)

Finger Print fee for EACH reason you're getting fingerprinted (I could be wrong on this one)

Anyone agree? Apparently there's separate fingerprinting FEES for EVERY occasion.

In Texas it's just once and it's on your file. That seems crazy.

You get fingerprinted for each county that you work in. It is a little crazy. Should I find a position this year, I will have to get fingerprinted again. When I interned they tried to get me to get another set of fingerprints even though I was already a sub in the district. The choice though is pay for it and get a job or don't and still have no job.

It's the same in PA. Once you do it, you're clear to teach statewide. I can't imagine getting fingerprinted for a few counties! You'd go bankrupt!

I had to get fingerprinted for my new parish, but I didn't have to pay. I didn't even think about it, I guess the school district pays.

Same in CA. Each district and the state. I have also been fingerprinted for dept of social services and justice for prior jobs. You think they would share information or something.

It's not about the finger prints, if they aren't getting money elsewhere, they are gonna get it from the teachers. I had to get mine right out of college to get my liscence, then my district was being unorganized with laws that were passed and tried to have me get them less than a year later again. Till they realized noo..just get them when you get your liscence renewed. So $151 later, 51 for the finger prints and $100 for my liscence application. lol My $90 stipend for doing my art club all year almost covered my liscence application. hahaha

I think Florida is the WORST about this fingerprinting thus far. Not only you have to get it for each county, but also for each position you apply for.

Volunteer - Fingerprint fee

Sub - Get another one done.

They need to lobby against this.

You only have to get them once youve been hired, right?

Depends on what you're getting hired for.

I had to do it for my internship, now I have to do it in order to even GET my teaching certificate from the State....possibly AGAIN.

Chances are, you're going to have to get finger prints done in this profession at least more than ONE time in a year, I bet you. lol
