I recently found a wonderful 1st grade teacher's class website, but wouldn't you know, I didn't bookmark it! She had a really great, simple class creed that her students would recite each day, and I would like to implement one for my class this fall. Does anyone have one they have used or read somewhere? I want to focus on high standards, excellence, being others-focused, etc. Thanks!
FIRST GRADE CLASS CREED
I am a kid with character.
I am unique and special.
I am responsible for my actions.
I can learn.
I will give nothing but my best.
I will, because I am a kid with character.
And, I am one COOL KID!!!!
Our promise to each other
When we care about each other and our classroom, we share what we have, listen carefully, help each other learn, work hard, and have fun together. We understand that everyone makes mistakes, that we stand up for ourselves and others, and when someone asks us to stop, we stop. This is who we are, even when no one is watching.
We promise to be respectful of our teacher and our classmates and also of the things in our room.
*We promise to be good listeners and to pay attention.
*We promise to take turns, share, work as a team, and include others.
*We promise to be honest and thoughtful.
* We promise to have postive attitudes, try our hardest, and to never give up!
*We promise to use our manners; to say please and thank you.
In this classroom we believe that learning is a lifelong adventure.
We believe in facing each day with minds open to love. We believe in the freedom to wonder, to ask, to explore, to imagine, to create. We believe
that success means doing our best, being our best, and feeling proud of our effort. We believe that every one of us has special talents, and that the talents
of each of us help all of us. We believe in ourselves, and in
each other...In this classroom.
One year I had the class help me modify the Preamble: We the students of Room 2...blah blah. When we had if finalized I typed a 'fancy' font version and we all signed it before posting it in our classroom for all to know what we stood for. Good luck!
I'm sorry I should have seperated them into three different ones. When I student taught my teacher did the first one. The kiddos personalized a face cut out of themselves and wrote their name on an index card as signing the promise. Then the teacher put their faces and names all around the promise. We read it almost every day. I'm teaching third grade this year and I think I'm doing to do the last one. The teacher before me, and I inherited all her stuff, had tons of red, white, and blue decorations. So we are going to do the Pledge of Alligence and a classroom pledge
