I am starting a unit on family and for some reason I am at a loss for activities. THey need to be geared toward Pre-K/Kindergarten. Any good ideas for crafts and/or lessons?

I put up a "Families are Special" bulletin board. Each family sends in a family picture. Kids complete sentence (or teacher can write it kids dictate) My family is special because ________. Attach pictures sent in.

Last year each of the children made a family tree. One class we painted a tree with green and brown paint. The next class each child brought in a real leaf-one for each member of their family-which they decorated with google eyes and yarn, pompoms etc. Which were glued on the family tree.

Last year we made a family quilt. Each child was given an 8" by 8" construction paper square to take home and draw a picture of his family. We punched holes in each square and worked with the children one at a time to lace his square to another. Both I and my Aide made a square with our families. We posted the quilt on the wall. It was a favorite.
