Someone had posted looking for a poem for the end of the year. I found these in a search. I haven't finished reading them because I kept tearing up. This year is going to be different. In the past, I always knew that I had one more year with my kids. I would see them right next door in 5th. Now they are leaving me completely to go to the Jr. High. That's hard! Ok...here's the poems. I love the one to the parents, I really think I'm going to use that one.
End of Year Poems:
You're a very special person,
And I want you to know.
How I loved to be your teacher,
How fast the weeks did go!
Please come back to visit me
As through the grades you grow,
Try hard to learn all that you can
There is so much to know!!
The one thing I try to teach you
To last your whole life through,
Is to know that you are special
Just because you are you!!!

To my class,
I'm glad I was your teacher
I've come to love you so.
I can't believe the end is here.
I hate to see you go.
Remember all the fun we had
in all the things we did,
But most of all remember...
You're a very special kid!
I've worked with your flower,
And helped it to grow.
I'm returning it now,
But I want you to know...
This flower is precious,
As dear as can be.
Love it, take care of it,
And you will see...
A bright new bloom,
With every day.
It grew and blossomed
In such a wonderful way.
In September just a bud,
January, a bloom;
Now a lovely blossom
I'm returning in June.
Remember, this flower,
As dear as can be,
Though rightfully yours,
Part will always belong to me!
Another year of school is at an end.
We've learned a lot and grown a lot
and made a lot of friends.
We'll say goodbye,
now summer's here,
it's time for us to part.
But we'll remember all our friends
and keep them in our hearts.
-Helen H. Moore
It's time to say, "Good-bye."
Our year has come to an end.
I've made more cherished memories
And many more new friends.
I've watched your children learn and grow
And change from day to day.
I hope that all the things we've done
Have helped in some small way.
So it's with happy memories
I send them out the door,
With great hope and expectations
For what next year holds in store.

I'm glad I was your teacher
I've come to love you so.
The year now ends and we must part.
Always know you're in my heart*
Have a wonderful vacation....
Remember to come visit me next year!
Love, Mrs. Biggins*
Do You Remember?
Do you remember way last fall
When we were only this tall
Now look at us
We're way up here
And my we've learned a lot this year
In fact they think we're really great
that's why we get to graduate.
Here's what I gave my kinders last year- an idea/poem I
adapted and added to, from one of the mailrings- it was a
big hit! I just used cute paper cups to put the things
in, wrapped with clear cellophane and attached poem.
A Cup of Goodies Just for You!
This little cup of goodies is to you from me with lots of
love. Inside I have put some treats for you to use this
A piece of sidewalk chalk (be sure to ask
your parents where it's okay to draw!)
A Bandaid for one of those summer ouches!
Hugs and Kisses for those times you need them!
A pencil and eraser so you can practice writing.
A postcard with my address so you can write to me and let
me know how you are!
A *SUPER STAR*1st grader coupon- bring this to me next year
for a dig in the treasure chest!

Possible farewell poems
" You're a very special person
Though at times you may feel bad
You are special to your mother
And important to your dad
Your parents may have chided you
And you've never understood -
That they wanted what is best for you
And did it for your good.
Because you are so special
They want to see you grow -
Into the kind of person -
That people like to know.
Life isn't always easy
But you have to hold on tight
To the knowledge that you're special
And always do what's right.
If you learn to cope with problems
And be careful what you say
If you keep the ten commandments
Then there will come a day -
In the not too distant future
When you'll be very glad
That you were important
To a loving Mom and Dad."

* ALWAYS HAVE A DREAM
" Forget about the days
when it's been cloudy,
but don't forget your hours in the sun.
Forget about the times
you've been defeated,
but don't forget the victories you've won.
Forget about the mistakes
that you can't change now,
but don't forget the lessons.
Forget about the misfortunes
but don't forget the times your luck has turned.
Forget about the days
when you've been lonely,
but don't forget the friendly
smiles you've seen......
Forget about the plans
that didn't seem to work out right,
but don't forget to always have a dream."

" Don't ever be reluctant
to show your feelings
when you're happy, give in to it...
When you're not, live with it.
Don't ever be afraid to try to
make things better
you might be surprised at the results.
Don't ever take the weight of the world
on your shoulders.
Don't ever feel threatened by the future
take life one day at a time.
Don't ever feel guilty about the past
what's done is done.
Learn from any mistakes you might have made.
Don't ever feel that you are alone
there is always somebody there
for you to reach out to.
Don't ever forget that you can achieve
so many of the things you can imagine.
It's not as hard as it seems.
Don't ever stop loving
Don't ever stop believing,
Don't ever stop Dreaming your Dreams."
