Meaningful Morning Work

I'm teaching 2nd grade this year and I'm trying to think of some meaningful morning work for the first month. Any suggestions? Any skill books you recommend I buy to use for quick, yet meaningful morning work?

I like Drops in a Bucket. I alternate between the language and math daily.

It's published by frog publications. It's a book of worksheets that have 10 questions per page. Here's a link to the sample pages.

If you want a bit of ela, math, teachable moment, and fun fact for each day, try this site. Goes from late August to June, every school day.

Any editing work is good. I used to do a continuing story and often used the students' names in it. They loved it. I also pretended that someone had crept in during the night to write the story and I acted surprised at what it contained. It was fun.

I also used jumbled spelling words, fill-in-the blank for spelling or vocab.
