A taste of their own medicine

Today we had a school-wide Easter celebration with different activities and games for the kids. The older kids (7th, 8th, 9th) were in charge of helping and organizing the activities while the younger kids (pre-k - 6th) went to all the games and such. At the end of everything, about 3 hours, the helper kids were all lying on the floor, exhausted. I was like "See! See what it's like to be a teacher?? Children are exhausting!"

A few promised to be better in my class. We'll see

Make sure you point out how it felt for their work to be completely unappreciated!

I had a decorating contest a few years ago. My 'winners' had to make it happen using the entire class. They (it was a team of 2) said they NEVER want to be a teacher. They were so frustrated. It was funny!

Hahaha that's too funny!

I actually had an 8th grader say to me once "I don't know how you can be a teacher... I could never put up with kids like us all the time!"
