There are two episodes online. Both are still available on the website. About an hour each. Very Powerful.

I was floored at that principal's ability to do so much while working in, for all intents and purposes, a war zone. The hardest part to hear was when the father of the deceased and practically martyred student was given the full truth of his son's brief life.

For me the hardest part to hear was the story about the boy who accidentally shot his brother and the repercussions of what he went through.

I'm glad you all listened to it. I am trying to circulate it in anyway I can. I think it needs to be heard.

I listen to TAL every week while I clean house. These last 2 episodes stopped me in my tracks more than a few times. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it somewhere around 43 kids killed by gun violence in Miami-Dade? The story about that boy who was just starting to turn things around (the one who accidentally shot his brother) only to flee the cops in the end

At the end of episode two they said there were 45 I think killed in Miami-Dade county public schools.

At one point they were saying every child killed her was a Chicago Public School student and now they won't release data about where the child was at school- so who knows what is happening on that front.

Ugh.....listening to the social worker talk to Devonte as he ran from the cops...."Remember the good Devonte is inside you. Be safe! I love you!".....

So hard....I just had a similar conversation with a student. Not nearly as serious, but still.

I live here and was shocked by many elements of the story. Many of them were things I didn't quite know.

I caught the tail end of the first part. I was driving home and waited in my driveway listening to the last 15 minutes or so because I didn't want to turn it off!

I love TAL and Ira Glass...thanks for posting the link - I was wanting to listen to the full episodes.
