Something Different for Valentine's Day
I'd like to do a new twist on Valentine's Day, but I'm not quite sure what. Does anyone here do anything "different" in regards to card exchange? Every year, I encourage "homemade" cards to be brought in, but I guess that's asking too much.
 Help!

I'm not sure what grade you are, but this teacher does an activity where they have to group their cards based on their attributes. Good science classification lesson!

Perhaps the students could make cards for kids in a nearby hospital.

I like the hospital idea, or maybe even write letters to soldiers stationed in Iraq. There are a lot of options as well besides these.

Party in a bag!
I usually have the kids fill one paper lunch bag.
In the bag they include one homemade and festive bookmark, one sm bag of chips, one juice bag/box, one sweet treat, and one small festive gift. Then we play musical chairs for the bags. We decorate the bags and bookmarks at school around the 1st of Feb. Then I send it home with a note of what the bag should be filled with. Kids and parents LOVE it.

I like the party in a bag idea!
Every year I send home a note saying to sign the Valentine's. Every year I get at least I unopened box of Valentine's. That's in addition to those kiddos who don't bring in any Valentine's!
