Old teacher here

Hi all!

I am a teacher and have been for 7 years.

I am an American but I got my education in the UK (B.Sc Chemistry and Biology, dual degree with honours).

I am teaching in a Asian country right now and love it.

I do have some question for you guys but I'll post them later once I get a feeling for this site.

Once again Hi all!

Hmmm... old as in this is a second career? I was just a baby when I was going in my 7th year.

Welcome . What a great amount of experience you have in regards to education around the world.

OK, maybe like third career.

I am a middle/high school math and sciences teacher.

I am also a speaker of four languages with a, sort of, working knowledge of two others. they are Spanish, English, Malay, and Bahasa Indonesia . . . Malay and bahasa are almost the same so I sometimes want to lump them together and say I speak three. The other two are Greek and German.

Wow Gee-Oh! Sounds like you have been able to see and experience a lot of the world so far .

I started out teaching high school mathematics and science. After 6 years I began thinking about teaching in another country. I moved back home and took a one year position thinking that after the year I would look at international teaching opportunities. Life sort of happened in that year and I ended up putting my name on adoption lists thinking that perhaps they would consider me as a single parent for adoption. I was matched to my son at the end of that school year and needless to say this haulted my plans to travel and teach.

There are times where I think about what could have been and I am a bit jealous of those who got to travel the world. But they are fleeting as we all end up living the dream we are meant to live and I'm definately living my dream just as I'm sure you're living yours.

I look forward to reading your posts and learning more about you. The concept of teaching and learning in other countries is fascinating to me .
