Can you tell us a little more about what an "advisory period" is supposed to accomplish???

An advisory period is a time when students meet in small groups (boy or girl - not mixed) to discuss issues that affect them in school or personal life. We meet once a week during lunch to discuss a topic. Some of the topics that we've already covered are: Cliques, Locker Buddies, Talking to your parents about grades/school w/o fighting, Managing after school activities and homework, Saying no isn't always easy, Does saying "I told you so" actually help?

Most of the topics we've already discussed have come from the student suggestion box, but the past two weeks there haven't been any new topics suggested.

If you have any ideas I would greatly appreciate hearing them!
