Circus Theme Centers

We are doing a circus theme next week. I have all of my small group activities planned but I am stuck on what to do in the centers. I have the dramatic play figured out. I need an idea for blocks, math, toys/games, sensory table, and possibly art. Any help would be appreciated!

Blocks - patterning to mimic the stripes in a tent
math - counting animals in the opening parade or back to patterning with animals or colors
sensory table - peanuts in the shell (if no peanut allergies) or foam packing peanuts
art -use different shapes to make animals from the circus (elephant - large rectangle body, square for a head, short small rectangles for legs, long skinny rectangle for trunk) or clowns - see this for ideas: http://www.first-school.ws/activitie...teps/clown.htm

Block area--throw the ball and know over the blocks
Math--grouping circus animals, sorting balloons by shape or color
Art--maybe something to do with the animal patterns on their skins, hides, fur?
Sensory--ice (like snow cones?)

maybe even sorting/grouping circus animals using animal crackers for math. You could even have them glue them on a large paper by animal type or something.

for games you could make coffee can stilts - or "tight rope walking" have them walk across a piece of tape for balance. do you have a parachute - maybe you could hang it from something like the circus tent - and let the kids play their games underneath it.

I took a very large parachute last year and hung it form the ceiling and let it drape down a few feet all around-- covered the entire room and we had our class in the circus tent

Children can play animal trainers by having them bring in their favorite stuffed animals. Then they can pretend to be animal trainers who work for the circus. Also, find a clown plush or one dimensional to point out clothes and body parts size and color. Have a ball with this happy, fun theme
