Post a schedule of conferences on the door so parents know you have a limited time.
I always put chairs out in the hallway. I also put out examples of our reading books from beginning of the year to the end. I put out our math workbooks too.
In the past, I have been known to put out chips and dip for the conferencers just coming from work who didn't have time to stop.
Schedule your confeences so that you have your best students first and last every day. That way you start your day happy and end it happy too.
