Traffic Light

I am a first year teacher, teaching first graders with multiple handicaps. I will be using the traffic light as my behavior management system.
Just wondering if anyone else uses the traffic light in their classroom and how they use it.

Trying to come up with my behavior management plan.

Here is what I was thinking so far:

All students will start out on green each day.
Yellow is a warning.
Red is disciplinary action (just as missing recess, miss free time, time out, call home)

Thanks for everyones help.

I also do a traffic light with my first graders. Yellow is missing 5 min. of recess, red is 10. After that is phone call/note home or see principal. It worked well last year.

Have you heard of red and green choices? It's a wonderful program that uses a visual behavior system that puts the student in control of the behavior. Ex: If I choose to sit on the floor than get up when i'm asked, I'll lose computer time, ect.
the website is http:www.redandgreenchoices.com
I hope this helps too.
