No Furlough Days & No Extra Students!

We were slated to take 7 furlough days between January-May if Proposition 30 didn't pass.

Also, the district has been getting us ready for up to 32 kids in K-3. However, due to Proposition 30 passing, we're not going to have to worry about that and we'll maintain status quo.

I'm so relieved. I truly can't imagine having 8 extra kiddos next year. The furlough days/pay cut I can deal with, but having so many more students would've been difficult!

I guess the phone banking, door-to-door precinct walking, and social media (shameless) plugs helped out! I'm proud of my union for getting us all involved. Our hard work paid off and our kids will (hopefully) continue to get the best possible services from us!

I'm certain my family will be relieved that I'll be able to get off my soapbox now (until the next issue that I'm passionate about, at least)!

I almost cried this morning when I saw the results. I was so afraid for my children's school, class size, support teachers and furlough days. We already raise so much money for the school; that hit would have devastated our already cash-strapped school and district.

I am very happy about it. The district I work in would have had to lay off teachers, probably hundreds and also put in furlough days.

So thankful for you!!

32 little bodies in one room has got to be some of the most challenging experiences a teacher can have.

The furlough days are tough to take financially, but the stress over not having to worry whether or not you're meeting the needs of all your little friends seems worth it; well maybe just from my perspective.
