I am a high school teacher, taking my Library qualifications. I am going to be in the library 1/2 time next year. Our teacher-librarians just got cut in 1/2 so the position is only 1/2 time next year.
What state are you in? That is a scary thought....here in Ny Ms a d hs librarians are state mandated. However elementary library media specialist are not...I know of at least 14 in 5 diff districts that have been notified their positions are cut for September...very sad.
Enjoy it! Library is so much fun because it is always changing!
Being a school librarian is sort of my dream job, at least in the education field. Our district has been slowly cutting lots of library positions over the past couple of years. I doubt there will be any left by the time I get my LMS degree.
