Glossy White Paper

I have recently taken over for an art teacher who left the school and left the artroom in quite a disarray. In my storage room, I have found TONS of paper that is shiney and white - kind of looks like thin posterboard and it's about 11x14. Not high gloss, but quite a sheen that makes it impossible to draw on with graphite or markers.

Any idea what this is or what it's purpose is? I hate to waste so much paper, and I am sure I can come up with a use, but I'd love to know it's original intent.

That sounds like paper for fingerpainting or tempera.

That is indeed finger painting paper. I also found a ton of it in my art room storage closet when I took my job this year. Oil pastels work on it, if you have some...beware those can be messy tough. And, oil pastels are good for blending and that doesn't really work well on glossy paper like that. But the oil pastel does adhere to the gloss. Crayons work a little bit, as well as permanent markers. I have used that paper even for folders when I was very low on paper before our supply came in.

You could also use it make prints provided your ink is acrylic in nature. I'd also think you could cut it down and make origami with it.
