Hi, I'm new and I'm ready to quit
I've been teaching for 8 years. I'm so burned out. What keeps you going, when everything you do is wrong to the administration??
Please pray for me to make heads or tales of this and please tell me what keeps you going. I've lost my motivation.
Thanks, and hello to all

So, sorry, Angela (and, welcome to AtoZ).
A list that keeps me going (in no particular order)
My students
My love for the content
Being a part of student's lives
Feeling valued by admin
Knowing I'm a leader among colleagues
My colleagues (several are awesome people and teachers, they make me want to do well)
The creative aspects of my job
Knowing that each day is different
Laughing with my students
Laughing with my colleagues
I've been teaching public school for 7 years. (Did private and university before).
Would a change in grade level or district bring back your motivation?

Administration can be discouraging for sure. And, late in the year, I often feel fatigue and frustration even more. But we have jobs where we can impact lives in so many ways. I cannot think of a more genuinely rewarding pursuit.
AngelaT I hope you can take the time to reflect about the many successes you had this year. Find those moments that reminded you why you chose this path. Talk about them with others --- here and with friends. Times of success reflection help me recharge my batteries and renew my spirit. Plus it's almost Summer!!! Do something different and fun to get re-energized. Good luck. :-)

Hang in there. Hopefully, things will get better soon. Maybe there will be a switch up in the administration.

Change schools, grades, or jobs. It may also be just a slump. Perhaps it will get better. Ask the Lord for guidance. Rejoice in Him always.
