Getting my colleagues and principal to buy in to L & L?

I attended a L & L conference at the end of last school year. I've definitely adopted several parts, trying to add more all the time. I have a very difficult student that I'm focusing my practices on, and it is WORKING!! It is really working!

My problem....none of my colleagues or my principal seem interested in learning more about it or using it. Does anyone have any ideas or anythings to help me get the point across? I know my work with this child is good proof, but some teachers don't really believe that is what has made the difference.

Any ideas?

I am just now reading this book, so I don't have any advice - except maybe find ONE teacher with a student w/ similar issues and share w/ her/him. Get that one teacher on board, and maybe that one will share w/ one other...

Thanks...that's a good idea. The "wonder teacher" of the building uses token economy, and while I respect it, it's not my style. Since the principal thinks she's so great, I'm really going to have data to back up L & L.

What difference does it make if others 'buy it' or not...it's working for you. Keep it up!

LOL....you know, I'm not sure that it does make a difference!

Guess I just like the way it works and for when we switch classes or go to art/music/gym, there is continuity.

But you're right..It works for me!!

No one in my building really uses it either, but I have had 1-2 other teachers who have read the book after they have commented about my class being "perfect" (which they aren't, but they aren't monsters/behavior issues most of the time).

What are the main points/methods L & L? I'm not familiar with this teaching style.

I use elements of L&L along with Whole Brain Teaching. They work really well together.

Whole Brain Teaching is really strong on whole group management, and on dealing with kids who are immune to normal forms of punishment, and do not self assess.

Love and Logic is strongest dealing with the other types of more normal kids one on one. The two make a powerful combination.
