Wow, how annoying. Sooner or later, karma WILL get her. So, I suggest that you smile, keep doing your job. And, about the P asking YOU to watch the kids, wow, just wow. I would do what Alice suggested and send a note to the office requesting that someone come ASAP to watch her unsupervised kids.

I would also herd my kids in the room and shut the door and let the P deal with it. If Pasks you to watch the kids, go to P after school and say"I really don't feel comfortable being responsible for both classes every morning. My kids are getting short changed. I need that 15 min. in my room. Could you supervise the kids or get their teacher to do it please?"

a story like this makes me sick. ive been searching for a teaching job for over 2 years now. so far ive only been able to get maternity leaves for a few months at a time. i'd die for a full year full time job. and it makes me so sad that someone cares so little about teaching and has a job.

She was actually on time yesterday! Her kids were so confused-they went to sit down in the hall like they usually do and she was like "come on, we're going to the room".

Although, we were informed by her in a meeting that she's going through some personal stuff so she is going to miss work (will be out at least 2 days this week), be late and this is my favorite-have a bad attitude-so we would know why. I really wanted to ask what her excuse was before-because this problem she was talking about just happened-she's had a bad attitude all year! But I didn't.

I'm not sure why her problems have to become our problems but whatever. I did talk to the admin about the common assessments-I asked if we had to do them because they are a lot of work for those of us who complete it. They sent out an e-mail to all of us asking for the data from the last one (over 2 weeks ago). We'll see if she sends anything. And I love it, send it out to everyone because one person didn't do it-they are so non-confrontational!

Thanks for asking guys! I really appreciate all the advice and really just being able to vent!

p.s. We first grade teachers-- well me anyway-- can tell immediately who their kindergarten teacher was. Just keep doing what you are doing. It's so sad that the kids are the ones who are really going to get the short end of the stick. I can't believe that she is getting away with all of that stuff. Again-- who does she KNOW that got her this job!!!!??????????? UGH- I would feel so frustrated as well!

Sounds so much like a teacher on my team. She is in a pod with another teacher who is almost just as bad and they cover for each other. The pod is toward the back of the school nobody really notices that they come in late and leave early. Or leave campus to run to Starbucks. Test results are the bare bones and sometimes I think they fake it--just put in made-up scores, because the rest of us are working and entering scores and they are both done days ahead of everyone else. The one teacher is on her phone/texting ALL the time and certainly at every meeting.
But our principal LOVES her. She reminds the principal of her daughter and the teacher also comes from money and travels in wonderful(!) circles that our principal wants to be a part of. GRRR. It's easy to say not to let it bother you--but boy, it just rankles me! I do my job and don't need to do hers too. She is also our team leader (!) and when she reports from her meetings, she just says there was nothing interesting or that pertains to us. I get my information from the 1st grade team. Thanks for letting me VENT!
