And... our kindergarten doesn't have a recess.

We are not a full-day kindergarten...only 2.5 hours in the afternoon. And, no, there isn't time to have recess and do everything that we are to do.

Oh,BTW, we are to do standardized testing and interventions in kindergarten. I work with the tier 3 kids.

It is typical of our test crazy nation where the only thing that counts is the child's score on the state held exams.
In my district there is constant complaints from the Dept. of Ed. about the physical fitness of the students.,yet our classes have only one 50 minute period of gym a week and four forth grade classes don't have any gym at all.Our classes very rarely go out for recess after lunch.Sorry,I am not surprised by this ridiculous decision.

I just got one last week! I have six severly ADHD boys... I looked back on Friday and saw one head just bouncing, bouncing, bouncing... The best $9 I ever spent!

For all you poor souls with no recess... Two words.
Chair Yoga. There are some great books that show stretches and exercises that kids can do in their chair to break up the day. I can't imagine it.
We run a lap after math, 15 min recess, 20 min lunch recess and 30 min of PE 3x a week. And my kids are still bouncing off the walls.
