Working less than a full day -- pay?

I just snagged a job that is from 11am-2:15pm. The regular school day is from 8am-2:15pm (approx.), so I'm working three hours less than the usual full day. Do you get assignments like this? Do they prorate the per diem in your district?

I am going to call tomorrow (its a job for Friday) and just make sure they didn't make a mistake on the starting time. I don't think I'll ask about the pay, partly because I'm new and partly because I don't like talking about money.

I was raised in the South, what can I say!

That's a half day and should be half pay.

You'll probably get paid for a half day. That's the way the half days in one of my district's works; one half is three and a half hours and the other is three hours and 45 minutes so they're not exactly even.

My districts pay half a day.

I agree. That's considered a 1/2 day & the pay should be 1/2 of whatever your full day's pay is.

I assumed they did prorate the amount, but I was little uncertain since the handbook they gave me just says "the per diem is $75", not anything at all about working part-days or half-days.

In most places its half the pay for half days.

In places I've subbed, if it's more than half a regular day (like the teacher comes in but has to leave at 9 AM because the'yre sick), it counts as a full day... if it's half a day, you get half the amount.
