We don't do Christmas either. I was going to do a snowman with "fist prints" and find a cute poem to go with it. For march-it is reading month and music in our schools monthe. You could do music notes with thumb prints, or maybe a book using two hands? Good luck!

Thanks. I think I will try doing it this way. I already have the cover done, and will have kids do the apply and pumpkin in the next couple of weeks. Thanks!

I started this today!! Now I am feeling pressed for time to complete a Christmas project we started in September. I think it will be time consuming, but it is darling. We did the January fingerprints as snowflakes, and it does look cute.
I just google'd calendar images and resized the one I liked to fit the page and then typed up the poem on my own. I was waiting and waiting for the new 2010 update, but felt like I needed to get moving! Hope it turns out!

I love handprint stuff!!! I have made up my own poems to go with some things. I will use some of the other poems & go from there. I like to take their basic idea, but make it my own...

I teach kindergarten and this is my one big cute thing I get to do! Since I teach in a public school I leave out the religious holidays so this is my month to month layout:
January- snowflake
Feb- heart
Mar- leprechaun
April-butterfly
May-Tulips
June- goldfish
July- American Flag
Aug- sun
Sept-apple
October- pumpkin
Nov turkey
Dec- mittens
It does take a while and I print the calendars in color on regular paper but staple it to oak tag. I also add details to the picture, so like for tulips I add grass and little tulips in colored pencils... it is cute!

I love this idea but our school doesn't have a binding machine. Are there places that do binding if I took the finished products in?

My local Staples has a binding service. You could also check at a teacher store-sometimes they have laminating and other 'teacher tools' that you can use for a cost.

I love this idea!
2 questions though, how much does it cost to put it all together? and does anyone have another idea for the leprachaun (March)?

Sandra.... I'm thinking you could do something like the sun, but make it a little more orange color so it looks like a lion. I haven't done that, I'm also thinking maybe having the kids make a fist & paint the flat part & knuckles white & maybe it would look like a lamb face...like I said haven't done it just trying to envision it.

I didn't bind mine or laminate them. I purchased the metal rings from staples for a couple of dollars and used those to put it all together. (I used the leprachaun for March, but I'm thinking about using birds this year and a poem about spring). I still have to figure out the handprint though!
