It's worth pointing out that Santa Barbara County is a little under 4000 square miles in area and San Luis Obispo County a little over 3500 square miles - each could contain both Rhode Island and Delaware with room to spare.

While we were allowed to chose our student teaching centers, there were guidelines. The supervising teacher must be certified to have a student teacher, there must be an active student organization, and the supervising teacher must have a masters degree in their field.

I worked the entire time I was in college. During my sophomore year, I worked three jobs. I worked with a grant rewriting the state's version of the National Electric Code. I got keys to one of the campus buildings and worked in the computer lab at night. I also worked at the state department of public education as a recordkeeper sort. I went home on the weekends and worked about 30 hours in a fast food joint.

Sure, but when you travel to and from on a daily basis for a couple of hours on a daily basis, it can get pretty tiring. Oh, it was a beautiful drive though!!! I won't complain about that part!
