    What mottos do you live by?

    Mine:

    "Better late than never"

    "Life is short, be happy"

    "Save away for a rainy day"

    "It's better to have loved & lost than never loved before"

    "Age is nothing, but a number"

    "Think w/ your head, not your heart"

    "Dream big & reach for the sky"

    "Don't put all your eggs in one basket"

    "You can catch more flies w/ honey than vinegar"

    "View life not as 1/2 empty, but 1/2 full"

    "One monkey doesn't stop the show"

    "Treat people as you'd like to be treated"

    (I'm sure I'm still forgetting some! :))

    "This too shall pass."

    Unless we're talking about a job interview where your 10:30 appointment is pushed back because the 10AM appointment showed up at 10:25. :p

    Ride it like you stole it.

    When you can't coast, you don't coast. When you don't coast, you go faster.

    Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

    If it doesn't work, get a bigger hammer.

    Two wheels good. Four wheels bad.

    The key to airpower is flexibility.

    Wait, did you mean ones that had to do with teaching?

    "Be careful the toes you step on today, because the toes you step on today may be attached to the ass you have to kiss tomorrow."

    "Life's a joke - Laugh hard."

    "God made beer = God is good."

    "Dress for the job you WANT, not the job you HAVE.

    There are more, but I spent 4 hours on the highway today and have been up since 5 am (and its midnight now), so my brain is done like dinner.

    Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but instead by the number of moments that take your breath away.

    Mine is the serenity prayer:

    God Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
    The Courage to change the things I can
    And the wisdom to know the difference.

    Brigidy I have a different version of that prayer that my Mom swears she lives by, lol.

    God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
    The courage to change the things that I can.
    And the wisdom to hide the bodies of the people I have to kill because they got in my way!

    Higher Ground
    Johnson Oatman, Jr., 1898

    I plan for this to be one of our class songs. I teach at a Christian school, so we can sing it...but I think it would apply across the board.

    I also plan to tell them how long ago this song was written and how the words still inspire and move me. Our writings can last for generations and touch people beyond our times here on earth!

    I’m pressing on the upward way,
    New heights I’m gaining every day;
    Still praying as I’m onward bound,
    Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

    Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
    By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,
    A higher plane than I have found;
    Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

    My heart has no desire to stay
    Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
    Though some may dwell where those abound,
    My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

    Just do it-whenever I feel like talking myself out of doing what should be done,I order myself to JUST DO IT-
    This isn't helping-whenever I start to worry or complain or feel sorry for myself.

    "But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you."

    And an Irish prayer:

    GOD GRANT US THE ABILITY TO TURN THE HEARTS OF OUR ENEMIES FOR THE GOOD, IF HE CAN NOT TURN THEIR HEARTS, MAY HE TURN THEIR ANKLES SO THAT WE WILL KNOW THEM BY THEIR LIMPING.:D
