It just occurred to me, I'm not sure why, that not everyone is aware of a great review resource.

NY State has, since the dawn of time, given Regents Exams in most high school subjects. The exams are normally given 3 times a year (June, for the huge majority of kids; August, after summer school, and January for year and a half courses.) They tend to be aimed at fairly average ability levels.

My school, as a private school, doesn't give Regents. (We're college prep. Most of our final exams are longer and harder than a typical Regents.) But I use them all the time as review sheets. They hit most of the major topics I need, and you can't beat the convenience of being able to download a 3 hour exam.

    Here's a site:

FYI: If you teach math, you'll want one of the old exams. "Math 9" is a typical algebra course, and "Math 10" is Geometry. Ignore all the.. well, I was going to say "idiotic" but in the interests of being PC, I'll call them "different"-- math courses that NY has offered since about 1980.

I think that I can make use of some of those resources; thanks, Alice!

But I would like to add that only in NY is biology called "Living Environment," I'll leave my opinion at that.

Can I ask why you don't use the more recent ones?

When the curriculum was reorganized, the quality of the questions decreased. Of course, many will beg to differ, but I like the older ones more. Especially the old "essay" questions. Now, the "thematic essays" are just too general for use in my classroom.

When I first used the site, I had pop-up blocker up. That prevented the tests from uploading. Check to see that yours is off. And, I also came to find out, that my computer has like 4 pop-up blockers (all my tool bars have their own--AOL, Google, Yahoo...)

This should allow you to view the exams after clicking on them.
