Anyone have any good suggestions for novels for World LIt? This is what we have chosen so far:

    NIght
    Lord of the Flies
    Da Vinci Code
    Othello
    Merchant of Venice
All Quiet on the Western Front
    Dracula

I really am looking for something that can keep the attention of not only my regular students, but also me :)

I just read Conrad's Heart of Darkness for a graduate course, and it can be used to look at Africa (in potentially racist perspectives) or as a post-colonial, anti-imperialism piece--so its applications are vast. Not sure if it would catch attention, though--I guess that depends on presentation (but so does Shakespeare, I feel).
