What are some people doing for a theme on winter? I work with 3 yr. olds and just wanted some more ideas of what to include in my learning centers to expand play. Also, I do not have much extra money to spend and want it to be reasonable.

    Ideas...

    Some Ideas:

-Cover some blocks with white paper so that the children can build with "ice blocks."
-Add cotton balls or crumbled white paper to the block area
-Add evergreens made out of cylinders and construction paper to the block area
-Add lots of ice cubes or a block of ice to the sensory table
-Let the children mix black and white paint to make various color combinations
-put a big sheet over a table to make a cave for the dramatic play area
    -sort winter clothing items
-categorize winter and summer itmes of clothing
-chart winter items children wore to school today
-creativity - shiny, white and black items to make a collage
-read about the various animals that hibernate in winter and animals that do not
-what is the difference between everygreens adn deciduous trees?
    -Cold weather crops

    I hope this helps...
