this will be my first year starting off as teacher of record (I got hired on after long term subbing last year) and I'm wanting to explore daily scheduling options. I've signed my contract and I'm pretty positive I'll be in first grade again. That could change as assignments are still being made, but I really don't see myself being moved.

Anyway, I'm just looking for ideas because the kindergarten class coming up is ROUGH, so I'll need a very structured routine ASAP.

    Thanks!

    12:00-12:30-Recess
    12:30-1:00-Lunch

You will probably have to work your schedule around specials and find out if there is a required amount of time needed for each subject. Every school is different so you should find out what's done in your school at your grade level.

Well at my school things are really different. The 3 monolingual teachers (including me) all have super different schedules. We eat lunch, have specials, and go to recess together but as far as subjects goes everyone kind of does their own thing.

The other 2 monolingual teachers will not be here next year either so They don't have anything planned

    8:30 Morning Work
    8:45 Morning Meeting
    9:00 Writing Workshop
    9:45 Recess & Snack
    10:20 Math
    11:20 Lunch & Recess
    12:15 Specials
    1:20 Story
    1:40 Recess
    2:00 Guided Reading & Centers

It's awesome we have so much recess and prep time and that they get so many specials, but also doesn't leave a lot of time for me to teach them.

    Here's my current schedule:

    7:45-8:20 morning work
    8:25-8:35 shared reading
    8:35-9:00 centers/guided reading
    9:05-9:15 snacks and restroom
    9:15-9:35 interactive read aloud
    9:35-10:05 centers/guided reading
    10:10-10:45 writing
    10:45-11:00 social studies
    11:00-12:25 lunch, recess, bathroom break
    12:25-12:35 independent reading (building stamina)
    12:35-12:50 math instruction
    12:50-1:15 math center
    1:25-2:10 specials
2:10-3:00 science/ packing up for dismissal

Part of me wants to split up my huge reading block a little more so they don't get burned out as much but I'm not sure. I had to switch my writing time because of my para's schedule (with out her my sped student won't do any work st all) but I used to have it first thing in the morning. I'm just looking for different ideas. :)
