Anyone ever make a fried turkey (or Cajun fried turkey)? Believe it or not, Popeye's fast food takes orders for them for TG. Speaking of Popeye's, they have a spiced pumpkin cream cheese pie for TG, but it's not a full-sized pie. It's one of those pies like how Hostess has it where it's enclosed & the filling's inside.

1x, I tried a fried turkey from a local restaurant (not Popeye's) & it was good!

I've fried a turkey before. Ours this year will likely be fried, in fact. They are so yummy that way!

We used to go to my step-grandmother's son's house to have fried turkey.

    It was so good.

We have prime rib, but we also roast a small turkey just for the leftover turkey sandwiches the next day! Ooh, my mouth is watering...

I'm actually not sure of the menu this year. Usually I cook, or help cook a full, traditional TG dinner. This year the boys and I are going up to my boyfriend's mother's house for Thanksgiving (and the shaking in my boots you see is my nerves on account of meeting most of his family for the first time). I think it's a traditional menu, but I'm not entirely sure.

We fried a turkey twice I think. It came out good but took longer than we thought. The only think that stinks is if it's freezing outside!! If it rained we would have been in big trouble!

The one thing I am looking forward to on Thanksgiving is the butternut squash soup that's on the menu at the restaurant. I've had it at another place and made it myself but this one sounds really good from their description on the website. I don't go nuts over turkey and potatoes so I usually go for more "interesting" side dishes.

Yeah, turkey & potatoes don't really excite me either, since I eat turkey throughout the yr regularly. My mom's stuffing recipe, which I plan to make this yr is ALL I care about & maybe the cranberry sauce!
