Yes, I make them from scratch. I just got the recipe from a Secret Restaurant Recipe cookbook but I can't remember which restaurant they are from lol Potatoes au Gratin 4-5 russet potoes, peeled 1 cup heavey cream 1/2 cup milk 1 1/2 tablespoons flour 1 clove minced garlic 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon pepper Chives-to taste 1 tablespoon butter 1 1/2 grated cheese (I use cheddar) Preheat oven to 400. Slice potatoes 1/4 inch thick (great if you have a mandolin). Beat together cream, milk, flour, garlic, salt, pepper. Coat baking dish with butter. Arrange 1/4 of the potatoes on the bottom of the dish. pur some cream mixture over potatoes. Sprinkle on chives. Repeat. If you run out of cream mixture and it doesn't slightly cover top of the potatoes I add a little more milk/cream.Cover and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 40 minutes. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for another 5-10 minutes or until brown on top. This recipe is great but I find i have to add a few more seasonings (garlic powder, more salt and pepper).
