    PE (3X) - 30 min.
    Art (once) - 60 min.
    Music (2X) - 30 min.
Library - 30 min. every week
Computers - we teach this ourselves and can schedule as much time as we want. I'm upping my time to 45 min. a week - but can easily get in for extra if I need it.

Also, my students have guidance for 45 min. almost every week. My 5th graders have a certain number of weeks of DARE (this may be cut this year). Also, each grade is pulled for 45 min. of health each week, but it's not a prep for me because I still have the other grade. The 6th graders also get pulled for a weekly band lesson once a week (but not all students are in band).

I am not completely sure what our specials will look like this year since they pulled computers and library out of the rotation. We lost computers completely (they layed off all the comp teachers) and we have a separate library time that we have to monitor since our Librarian has NO classroom management. :|They also added in a health special that should be interesting.

We are a Title I school so we have 30 minutes of intervention pullout every day and/or 30 minutes of ELL pullout. During this time we are not allowed to teach any new material or do any projects so that the pullout kids don't get left out.

We have 1 hour of specials each day. Art gets one hour one day a week. On the other four days the specials are split 30/30 between PE (everyday 4 times a week) and another special. The other specials are music and health... I'm not sure how this is going to work.

    So:
    Library (40min 1x)
    Interventions/ELL (30min 5x)
    Art (60min 1x)
    PE (30min 4x)
    Health (30min ?x)
    Music (30min ?x)

We rotate on a three week schedule so students will attend each special once during the first semester, except for PE twice and Art twice since there are two teachers.

    Music
    Art
    PE
    Library

ok....I'm the art teacher. Your kids are so lucky to have art multiple times a week, or music multiple times a week! I'm a big support of both.

What I don't get..and maybe you can shed some light into your local school areas...how can a district justify giving kids music 2 times and gym like 2 times or more as I was just looking through, but no art?! Or the opposite???

It just breaks my heart. I have no idea what my education would have turned out to be if I hadn't had that creative place to be. Aside from all the other things I've learned and grown from being involved in the arts.

Once a week should be a minimum..and I just wish our schools could see the impact the arts have and require that students have it.

    Our specials
    PE-35 mins 3x a week
Art-35 mins 1x or 2x a week depending on which week it is in the rotation.
Music-35 min 1x or 2x a week depending on which week it is in the rotation.
    Library-30 min every other week

We had Spanish and science a few years ago, but with the budget cuts those positions were cut. We've never had computers as part of the rotation.

We did have 1 special each day (Library, Art, Music, Technology, PE) for 40 mins. But we will be going back to specials 4 days a week. That just means 2 will be back to back on one day so we will have 80 min.

    We have:

    Spanish 5x a week (30 minutes)
    PE 2x a week (45 minutes)
Art once a week (45 minutes)
Music once a week (45 minutes)
Drama once a week (45 minutes)

We also do tech lab, but we don't have a specialist for that, so the classroom teachers have to teach it.

Wow! Some of you have lots of specials. We have:

    PE daily (45 min)
    Guidance 1x week (30 min)
Library 1x week (25 min) (they usually just check out books and watch cartoons--such a rip off)

    Wow!

Our provincial contract states that all elementary school teachers get 90 minutes of prep a week.
It is usually PE three times a week although we have had music as well.

I have really wondered how so many seem to leave so early after the bell rings and I guess this explains it.

We have 40 minute prep periods:

    PE 2x a week
    Library 1x
    vocal music 1x
    computers 1x
    art 1x

When I taught my first year in my current district, we also had Spanish once a week but the teacher was supposed to be there. It was cut from the budget :(

That stinks...our contract specifies 240 minutes of prep time each week plus a duty-free 40 minute lunch each day.

    P.E. 3x per week (30 minutes)
Music 3x per week (30 minutes)
Art 1x per week (45 minutes)
Library 1x per week (30 minutes)
Guidance 2x per month (30 minutes...if she shows )

That was last year...I think we are going to be dropping down to 2 Music and 2 P.E. per week this year.

Gosh, I totally fogot about library! I knew i was missing something. I'm so glad to see that it hasn't been completely cut everywhere.

At my school, the 'big kids' (1st gr. and above) also have etiquette & manners once a week, as well as yoga on the days they don't have a regular PE.

Anyone else have yoga/meditation @ their school?

I haven't seen my schedule for this year yet, but if it stays as before:

    PE (45 minutes every day)
    Music (30 minutes 2x week)
Library (20 minutes 1x week, but we stay with out kids)

No art or language classes, but I wish we did. My kids are moving to my school this year (they've been attending the private school where my husband worked), and they are upset about not having Spanish and art classes (and no music for my fourth grader). They really enjoyed them.

We have NO art, No music in the general classroom. I teach the gifted students so they get all of it. But, that does leave the others without.
