What are some of the things you MUST HAVE as a teacher - things you could not possibly do without?

    Mine are :

    - my laptop (need it for research, lesson planning, creating documents, etc)
    - my printer (to print those things from my laptop!!)
    - my laminator
    - brightly colored cardstock
    - glue gun
    - pens, pencils, highlighters, post it notes (all the fun stationery stuff!!)

    Share yours?

I guess my real only "must have" is a student (LOL), but other than that, my list would look a lot like yours. I teach in a one-to-one school (every kid has a laptop), and I can't imagine going back to a situation in which I couldn't access my computer when I needed it. All of my files and most of my lessons are digital now. :)

I worked at a school where each classroom had a smartboard, we had computer carts for each grade level, and other technology. I have moved to a school with none of that! It's going to be hard, because many of my lessons were smartboard lessons, but I guess this will be getting back to the basics! I thought I could never do without my smartboard ... this year will tell :)

I have done without a SmartBoard, Projector, and Elmo, but I hope I never have to again! Besides those, I need:
    • computer of some kind for planning, designing graphic organizers, etc.
    • basic supplies (pencils, glue, crayons, etc.
    • butcher paper
    • some form of "boom box" for listen & read center and to play classical cd's
    • a board up front and something to write on it with (white board - dry erase markers / chalk board - chalk, etc.)
    • student computers

In truth, like bandnerd, all I need is a student, but the rest definitely helps!

Something I was given that I thought was handy was a message pad (note pad) that had a carbon (not the black, but as you wrote it made a carbon copy), so you had a copy if you had to send a quick note home! It was nice because I didn't have to make a copy, just had it there & stuck it in the file!!!
