    LOL.

I've lost credibility with someone willing to equate Sports Illustrated with a Boucher? Oh, my....

Agreed. I did follow up and contacted the principal and their parents. The students in question have been dealt with. It’s just frustrating being so young looking sometimes — I really do look like a teenager even though I’m 25. I once was told by a student that it’s my fault because I look 14??? When I was hired at the school where I work, for example, some of the students commented, “Oh look, we have a new student.” And of course, one of the students mistook me for his friend, rolled up a newspaper, and slapped me on the behind. As if that’s somehow still acceptable between friends. Really? That student was dealt with immediately.

    Teenagers.

In the context of the discussion (the presence of nudity or partial nudity in the classroom), both were relevant. AlwaysAttend even presented a comparable example with her modern body image scenrio.

I do apologize for the credibility attack. That was uncalled for.

    Thank you.

I do understand that some folk will have deep-seated religious beliefs placing them at odds with displays of nudity. But I find the conflict a particularly American one that casts our society in a negative light against our older, generally European counterparts. And I deeply resent this; it brings me enormous shame to think we may be unable to catch up to the rest of the world in terms of our thinking and social stability.

And I back teachers. I feel this man was wronged, and that his community owes him. It may as well have been done to me, as I take these notions of fraternity and brotherhood to heart.

    Again, thank you.

That's crazy. Hopefully that student was expelled, or at least suspended for sexual harassment. It shouldn't matter how old or young you look. That's a top-tier offense.

He was suspended for five days, he received zeros in all of his classes for those missed days, was forbidden from doing senior year activities, and had to write an apology letter. He and his parents were embarrassed and mortified. It was very awkward for everyone involved...

So his grade now represents his behavior more than his academic ability?

Students are not allowed to make up work for unexcused absences. Suspensions fall under that category. That is the school policy so my hands are tied.

He's lucky to be continuing in the school at all. Especially given it's a private school, and they can more easily give him the boot.

I wouldn't agree with influencing the grade for regular misbehaviors, but I think the grade is really not the important thing here.

Exactly. I was surprised he wasn’t expelled. I think they let him stay because he genuinely expressed remorse and swore up and down that I did look like his friend from behind, otherwise he wouldn’t have done it. Also, he was a first-time offender so they gave him some leeway.

I have mixed feelings on the matter. I agree grades and behavior should be seperate, but sometimes that's a practical impossibility. In reality, sometimes a zero is the natural result of not being there.

In my 6th grade math classes, I showed a BBC Documentary titled, "The Story of One." At 8:10, a woman is sitting on the ground making bread or dough. I hadn't watched it in its entirety so first period notices something and some snickering comes from a few girls. I saw what it was so when I showed it to other classes, I found a stopping point to pause and skipped over a few seconds after. Then I went to the AP told her what happened. She said not to worry and if any complaints come in, she would explain.

What was the problem with a woman making bread or dough?

I just watched. That’s all they got from the fact that an isolated population of indigenous people managed to create and sustain a civilization without numbers. How wonderful...
