I have accepted a new job. I will be the only 3rd grade teacher and will be using the Treasures reading series. I have looked through the books and am very overwhelmed.. Does anyone have lesson plans that I may use as a guide that they are willing to share?? Any help would be appreciated!!!

Have you been instructed to follow the basal or is there a pacing guide you have to follow?

I was a 5th grade Science teacher and then got moved to third. I knew very little about teaching reading and my two other new colleagues came from other subject areas too! We just had to start from scratch. I will try to help you answer questions if I can.

    Treasures Question

In the 3rd grade edition of Treasures that I will be teaching has "Amazing Grace" as the 2nd story. Most of the sites I've seen have "Dear Juno" as the 2nd story. ??????

I am sure there are different versions.

    Does this help?

My suggestion is if you have the teacher manuals use them, but do not feel obligated to do it all right off the bat. Pick a few key elements you will use. Look to see if it is necessary for you to use all the elements (i.e. If you already have a grammar program, will you use it, or the treasures program.) You may PM me if you like.

I noticed that this one has Dear Juno as the second one too. Let me keep looking to see if I can find the Amazing Grace... Can you tell what the copyright year is?

The amount of resources are overwhelming. Check with your new district to see if the expectations are changing because of the Common Core. Many districts are using Treasure as a resource vs a full curriculum this year. You may be interested in checking out the Basal Alignment Project.
