Our graduation is tentatively May 17th and everyone else is May 22nd. As long as we don't have any more missed days, we should be good.

We have missed for snow and flood and flu, so our days keep piling up. We were supposed go get out May 17, but last I heard it is the Friday after Memorial Day. However, we have missed two days since then. We are never getting out.

I feel you. I'm hoping they don't push ours back. We have extra days of school built into our traditional calendar because we basically always anticipated show days and stuff. We've basically used up our cushion though. I think we can miss one more day before they start making up days.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am SO glad my school doesn’t make us make up missed days that are beyond our control (due to weather or natural disaster).

And I'm glad we make up days. I'd prefer to work the full contract, not to mention have as much classroom / instructional time with the students as possible.

Meh. We just cram and catch up that way. It still works out in the end as my students still score a 4/5 on their AP tests, on average, so it’s all the same to me.

True. I guess if the purpose is just the test, then the days after the test are meaningless. There's learning happening until the final day, here, even though our state tests are in May!

I see where you’re coming from and I partly agree. It’s not *just* about the test, but at the same time if a student passes the test with a 4 or 5, then that clearly demonstrates their mastery of the course content, which is the overall purpose of the course. And most of my students (~80%) are STEM-bound anyhow and so the knowledge they acquire in my class will stick with them through the rest of their high school, collegiate, and adult careers.

We get out on May 17th. Between now and then we have 5 days off for spring break, and two days off for Easter. We have 38 days left, including exams.

August 8 for teachers, August 12 for students.

We have a schedule where we have longer school days and shorter school years, and more breaks. So our students are in school 8 hours a day, but we have more frequent breaks from school.

What breaks do you have and for how long?

8-hour school days?! How many periods do you have per day and what is the length of each one?

Sometimes we miss as many as 28 days. That’s beyond cramming.

Oh, wow! I was thinking 5-7 days or something close to that, not on the order of a month of instruction lost.
