We have the whole week off and while yes, it has been a long haul since Labor Day, I am *thrilled* to have a whole week -- it's a real vacation! Three-day weekends are great but I'll take my week off. When we go back, just two weeks of class, then finals, then the end of the semester! Our last day is June 6th.

We have another long stretch like this from Spring Break to Memorial Day in the spring and I'm already thinking ahead of taking a PD somewhere in there.

Wednesday is a half day (both kids and staff, though I'm sure I'll be sticking around for a while afterwords to *maybe* avoid coming in the rest of the "break"), and obviously Thursday and Friday are days off as well.

Growing up, I never heard of anyone around us having off on Wednesday.

Here, we have had it off most years. It certainly makes it easier for travel. This year, it's allowing us to visit both my side off the family and my DH's, which is really good because we don't know if we'll be able to for Christmas!

We have the whole week off. It's always wonderful! I get to decorate my house, and write semester exams, which students begin preparing for not long after returning from break. They only have two weeks of school before exams start! I'll do a quick unit, then move on to review!

    Must be a CA thing!

Until I joined the forum, I'd never heard of anyone not getting the entire week off!

I grew up in NJ and now work in MD; I have never had that Wednesday off - maybe a half day if I was lucky.

This year I only get Thursday and Friday off - no half-day Wednesday.

We had a five day weekend in October.
We go to school on Monday and 1/2 of Tuesday of next week, but then we have Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off as well.

We have the entire week off, and it's been that way for many years. When I was growing up in this area, we were generally off Wed-Friday.

Technically, we're still only off Wed-Friday, but our district allows us to earn 12 staff development hours during the summer to excuse us from these days. All principals and any teachers who didn't take advantage of that opportunity have to work on Monday and Tuesday.
