Everyone here knew that I wasn't coming back. The P tried to sell me his wonderful "deal." Someone in a neighboring district just got pink-slipped. He's been wanting to come to this school. Magically, now there's an opening. Whoever called my P a bozo is correct. More like an a-hole to me. &%#*!!!! I can't believe I almost fell for his schmooze. Thanks everyone for helping me see the light.
It's a tough lesson to learn but an important one. Principals are always looking out for their best interests. Sometimes those interests include you, and sometimes they don't. Always take care of yourself first.
UPDATE: My replacement at my former school has been found. I'm very thankful that I listened to everyone here and took the non-renewal. I would have been up s@&$-creek with no paddle if I didn't find a job! That "deal" if he could to find someone by July was pure BS. I'm definitely gonna watch for myself first and foremost!
This has been a tough experience for you, but if you gained knowledge that will help you move on to a successful experience, all is good!
Pi-R-Squared, your comment reminded of these famous words: "It's a dog-eat-dog world, Sammy and I'm wearing MilkBone underwear" -the great Norm Peterson to Sammy Malone
This is an old topic but here's a nugget to chew on. My reply isn't school-related but it applies to "best interests." Months ago, our youth pastor was let go. Now, the interim music director retires and will be replaced with someone who will be in charge of music AND youth. During an announcement, it was highlighted that this guy would make less than what the church would have paid for 2 positions. So the moral is that "best interests" apply everywhere! Even in church!
