I have been writing notes in their agendas, so that parents see them as well. I've been doing a standard "Thanks for the gift. Have a very merry Christmas". I try to use adjectives for the gift that are appropriate (i.e. yummy, beautiful, thoughtful, etc.)

I try to thank them for the specific gift they fave. "Thank you for the scented oil warmer set. My apartment smells absolutely wonderful." "Thank you so much for the Starbucks gift card. How ever did you know just how much I love my morning coffee?" Of course if I am without my morning cup of coffee close at hand I look and act completely lost and the kids know it, so there is a bit of humor there.

Dropped mine off in the mail yesterday. They went like this:

    December 19, 2009
    Dear Taylor,
Thank you so much for the Bath and Body set, it's my favorite scent. I know I'm going to enjoy using it. If was very thoughtful of you to think of me in such a generous manner.
I'm so glad you're in my class, you make my day.
    Love always,
    Mrs. X

My Thank Yous are along the same lines as Hoot Owls. :)
And, I also mail them off to their homes.

I try to get them done after the party so they go home that very day. So far it has worked out to do them at lunch or while the kids watch a movie....very similar in content to others.

If a gift is from everyone, I be sure they all get a card or note.

I try to personalize mine and use lots of adjectives. I also mail them to their homes. I always end mine with, "see you next year" because we talk about that when we leave before break.

I put mine in the mail today. My kiddos are in K, so I know their parents will be reading them, but that's ok. I kept them simple and I think they'll be thrilled to get a note from me in the mail over break. :)

I didn't - of course, but I wanted to write:
    Dear Betty,
Thank you for the wonderful shower gel and body oil. My husband and I will have lots of fun with it. You are so thoughtful!
    Love,
    Mrs. Clean

    Or...
    Dear Billy,
Thank you for the cute apple ornament. How did you know about my collection of apple ornaments? I will remember your thoughtfulness each year when I decorate my classroom tree.
    Love,
    Mrs. Apples Everywhere

Or...well, you get the point. Truthfully, every little gift is received with an open mind and heart, and the realization that this gift is a gift from the heart of a small child who means a a great deal to me.

Ha! That's hilarious! As a man, I don't get any of that soapy smelly stuff... although one year a little boy gave me Derek Jeter cologne and I, of course, had to wear it everyday for him. :D

This seemed to be the year for scented lotions and shower gel. I will have to set up a rotation:
    Monday - cherry blossom
    Tuesday - fresh rain
Wed - open woods (I hope hunting season is over...)
    Thurs - just clean
    Fri - very berry

Oh well - I shall be clean and my skin well hydrated!! Happy Holidays, Halpey!
