    Hi everyone!

When my Aunt found out that I got my first teaching job (Yey me!) she asked if she could throw me a "teacher shower".... kinda like a baby shower, but centered around teacher things (I guess).

She's asking for my wish list ~ but of course, I have no clue what to ask for!! I've browsed through all the teacher magazines, this site, and all the other sites I know of... yet the only things I have on my list are "used games" and "used books."

I'll be teaching 5th grade, and the former teacher didn't leave ANYTHING. I have some shelving/storage, a desk, and... as of now, my sanity.

Any ideas on what I could add to my list?!?!

My mentor didn't think a nice pair of shoes and a spa treatment were first year necessaties like I did

books for your classroom library; anything related to supplies - pencils, scissors, glue, good ink pens for you!, copy paper, good stapler...anything you think you might have to use!; pocket charts - if you want to use them; folders - file and pocket folders; bulletin board supplies; stickers; teaching charts; dry erase markers (or chalk, depending on your boards) and erasers; rubber stamps...

There are so many different things you could add! Think about what you might need and that's what you should add!:D

The Lakeshore (lakeshorelearning.com) site might be a good place to start. I would ask that guests bring their favorite book for - grade (since you are upper elementary it could be favorite chapter book). Another thing you might want is overhead math manipulatives - overhead math. Another generic idea is storage containers, you will find a use for every shape and size possible :) The teacher stamps at lakeshore are great too and would be a great gift.

this teacher shower sounds like fun!!! I wish I had one. I think you can ask for books, like mstnteacherlady says ask for supplies-paper, markers, crayons, stapler, dry erase markers, etc. you can go to a teacher store & browse...you could google classroom supplies for your grd level & I'm sure you will find some things other teachers have bought. good luck & have funnnnn!!!!!!

Oh my goodness, you guys are fabulous!!! So many things I didn't even think about...

I really like the idea of each guest bringing their favorite book ~ I'll pass that on to her as a "party idea".

These are just awesome!! It looks like there will be 20-30 people (already 15 confirmed)... any more ideas?

I knew I asked the right people!!

I like the gift card idea. That way you can buy your own things at anytime.

You have gotten great suggestions so I don't need to add anything there. I just want to say how very cool I think it is that your aunt wants to do this for you. How fun!! Enjoy whatever supplies or gift cards you end up getting.

    That is an awesome idea!

If they are feeling REALLY generous (maybe a couple could go in together), a little fridge or microwave, or a rocking chair. (Just a couple of the big things I want to make the classroom more comfortable for me and the kids.)

    Have fun!!

When I graduated my aunt who was a former teacher and principal thought it was essential for me to have a nice pair of comfortable shoes to work in. I am still using those shoes to work in, four years later.

    good electric pencil sharpener
hole punchers (3 ring and single hole)
    lotion
    clothespins
    magnetic clips

It may not seem like much but those clorox wipes and hand sanitizer. You will be thankful to have it around!
