I am doing a special unit on the super bowl this week... im in need of 2 art projects. So far we are doing lacing a shoe, 3D football, sports drink taste test, and we are having a super bowl party on Friday. Does anyone have any good art ideas for a class of 4/5 year olds?

You can have them bring in a white T-shirt and let them decorate it with fabric crayons to make their own football jersey. If you don't have fabric crayons, then they can paint the shirts with water color paints.

If you are looking for some science activities to do with them, you could get out an air pump to let them inflate a football. You can also cut open a football to see what's inside.

and we have football ice cubes that are plastic----for grown up drinks---- we fish them out of rice tables or water tables for fine motor, sensory and math.

and if you are worried about the playing of football, mens ties in a belt of scarves make a fine flag football set up, or you could make a field goal sort of target practice item with a tarp, duct tape applied strategically and a hole cut out where the ball to go. We just use a hula hoop suspended from our huge oak tree.

We will be playing football outside, im not worried about it at all. I was just in need of art projects to do. we are required to do at least 1 art project a day. I was finding i have way more science, physical etc than art.

    thanks for your suggestions.

Let them make their own football uniform (paper). You could use large white paper and have them lay down and trace their lower body to make the pants and then trace their upper body to make the jersey and let them pick a number and design theri own uniform. You could also have them do their own helmet (paper). maybe if youdid the shirt and jersey one day and the helmet another day that would **** for two projects? I like the pinata idea too!

Get white or light brown poster boards. Cut out BIG football shapes and have each child decorate their own football. (They can trace their own footballs and cut them out, IF they can.) They can use markers, crayons, paint, or glue what ever they wish to glue on them. (3-D art; cotton balls, cut out of diff colored shapes, leaves, etc.)
    Make it fun,

How about taking a smaller size football (nerf maybe) and let them paint with it....

Or you could make a fingerfan mitt and let them lace and then decorate it....

Make a cutout of a Football jersey from construction paper and they can decorate, paint, color, etc.

If it isn't too late, have you been to Making Learning Fun? Go to the updates page-they have several things there.
