I made a sheet that can get students to look at sections in science and social studies books creatively. Though my students answer questions and write summaries (and sometimes outline sections), I require for them to "go outside the box" and create resources for their classmates. They then get to teach the lesson to their classmates using the resources. They must choose at least 2 activities from this chart to enrich their lesson. Students, at fewest, pair up and at most, have four students to a team.

Of course, you may make your own... or change the last box because our music teacher's name is in there. She on Fridays splits our class into two large groups and does a game where they compete against the clock.

Fact or Fiction is where you write true or false statements based on what you read. You change one word to make the Fact or Fiction statements.

I am very interested to learn more about it. But the link opens to an error page. :(

Do you have Adobe Acrobat Reader, where you can view .pdf documents? That is all I can think of... :)

(Edit: Drat! I wrote "Adobe Photoshop"!!)

pdf documents can be viewed with Acrobat Reader (or whatever Adobe is calling it these days: the free program to read pdfs, not the pricey one to make them), or on a Mac with Preview.

Sigh! I have Adobe. I have Mac Preview. I only get squares and other little symbols. I SOUNDS really neat.

Maybe if I try it on the PC when my husband gets off later.

Odd: it worked just fine on my Mac. If you've got Preview and Safari, it should open right up: could be that you haven't enabled the plug-in to let you view a pdf. Go to the Safari menu and select Preferences; click on Security, and make sure that the box for enabling plug-ins is checked.

If that doesn't work, try opening the pdf from within Preview.

That looks fantastic! The social studies book we currently have is soooo boring! This will really help liven things up! :haha: Thanks so much! :hugs:

This sounds great for my science class.
Do you assign a section to each group and then they have to present it to the class? How long do you give them to do it?

Cool! I will need to modify a couple of things, but this will be great instead of always giving tests!

Please do! I want to use this with our Native Americans chapter or maybe the layers of the Earth or even simple machines if/when we ever get there.

Well, we talked about it. They seemed VERY excited. They all wanted to do their assignments differently, and they were pleased with the sheet quite a bit. We're doing it for a section on ecosystems.
