So I moved states and cities, even left teaching to go back to school.

I just ran into one of my students from my first year of teaching and he's attending the same school I am which is hilarious. I even remembered his name and a bunch of details about his life. Lol! This was a student from 6-7 years ago in a different state that I taught in a small school. Also made me feel old. Lol.

Have you ever run into students in the most unexpected places (like far from where you taught them?)

probably the farthest I've run into former students was in the next state. About 400 miles away.

I've run into students at Disneyland before (especially if I go during vacation). It's about 5 hours away from where I live...so not really a day trip.

I'm getting into engineering. Particularly aerospace R&D is my goal.

Yay! We need more people in STEM fields, engineering in particular. Keep it up!

When we were on vacation in Florida several years ago, I saw a former student at Disney and another on an airboat tour. I live in Southern Ontario--a long way from Florida!

Disneyland seems to be the place to go to meet former students. Lol!

I have had less unlikely meetings, but they seemed more bizarre to the students. I used to work summers at a Boy Scout camp, which was part of the general council area I student taught/taught in. Therefore, rather likely for students connected with Scouts to come to that camp in particular. But to see Mrs. Backroads in a bathing suit and board shorts screaming at people in the water seemed to freak out former students...

The most awkward place I've seen a student is at the gynecologist. Not a doctor. Not a family practice. A gynecologist. :dizzy:

I was chaperoning a middle school summer trip to Europe. While we were in Wales I ran into a student who had moved to another state during the previous year.

When I run into kids in public, like the grocery store, they look at me like, "WOW! You eat too?"
I wonder what was going through her head.

Although grown when this happened, I ran into one of my college professors when we went to the same OBGYN. I had just had my baby and she was trying to have one.

Why are we teachers any different than other people? My former math teacher co-worker once said, "We're like celebrities but with no money." ;)

Every time I've bumped into a one specific female former student, she would run up to me and give me a BIG HUG! And she wouldn't let go for the longest. And, I just hugged her back. Twice this happened at a Walmart. She was shopping with her mom at Walmart Once at an outdoor annual festival. And another time, she was with friends at the mall.... Let's just say there was a hug-fest inside a Chick-Fil-A. :D
