Hi. If you do remember those (I used them around 1982 as a student) do you know where I can find them? Thanks.

belive it or not, I have an SRA set in my room! Its old and is missing parts, it looks like it is from the late 80's or ealry 90's! I never use it though! Just out of curiosity, how do you plan on using it in your room? Is it desiged to be a whole reading program?

Oh my gosh, I think I used those in school too. I remember doing independent reading skills cards and my friends and I were in a "competition" to see who was on the highest level. I remember it was a big deal for us moving into the next level. lol

I just looked on Ebay (looked up SRA reading) and there were quite a few hits for it. All around $40 or so- most of them looked like complete sets too.

I have 2 sets in my room. They cleaned out our old title 1 lab and set all kinds of stuff out for us to take. The SRA cards were IN THE TRASH! I grabbed them quickly! The kids use them often and really enjoy them. You just can't beat them for practice. (Not everything needs to have, or can have, bells and whistles!)

When I used it as a student, it was supplementary to our reading program. If your talking about the same thing I am, I don't think it's intended to be a comprehensive program. I teach a H.S. Emotional Support class for students w/ emotional/social/behavioral/psych. isssues. This year the guys are motivated to complete assignments indpendently, when they can see their progress. It is also tied into the classroom behavior management program and they can earn "tickets" as an incentive. I want to use these as a "do now" type activity for the beginning or end of class, or in the case of an emergency for lesson plans.

I use mine for morning work. The kids can work through the levels independently.

Do you have any of the cards in your room or the box at least? If you do go to amazon or any of the book seller web sites and enter the ISBN number to search for them. Hope I helped.
