Grades 6-8 teachers-How do you get to know your students? Do you talk one on one with them frequently?

I don’t have all that much time to have long conversations with them, but I try to interact with them whenever I can. Hallways between classes. When they arrive in the ronin dismissal. I’ll go to their extracurricular activities when I can. I share things about myself with them, which often gets them to share things about themselves.

Yeah I find I don’t have time for long conversations but I can slip in short conversations when waiting for the next bell or before class starts. And I definitely try to share things about myself like sports and food and movies etc. And I speak to them and treat them with respect, that’s a big thing for building a good relationship
