UGH! I spent $500 and 3 HOURS at the garage getting an oil change & new tires. Seriously they move at a GD snail's pace there. They mostly stood around talking, staring at the car and smoking ciggs. Ironically there's a NO SMOKING sign in the lobby. Next time I think I'll order online and see if my mom's fiance will put them on.

I've got three days in with kids already. I was worn out last night, and I slept until almost noon today. My classes are a lot smaller than last year because we got two more teachers, which allowed us to run an additional section of each class. I'm down from 35 kids to 20. Yay!

I really need to be spending my day doing things around the house. We are under construction, so there are always things that need cleaning up and straightening up. However, I'm having to make lesson plans because my partner teacher didn't do her part over the summer. She was doing the first two units, and I was doing the second two . . . but she didn't do them. Now we need hers, and it's not done. Ugh.

Ugh. Luckily my local garage is less than a half mile walk away. I drop off my car for service, walk home and go back when it's done!

    Congrats, Ms. I!

My sister is in San Francisco right now for a nursing assignment and has been begging me to come see her. Last weekend she found out she has Labor Day weekend off so I booked myself a plane ticket! We will be visiting Alcatraz, Chinatown, the tiled stairs, Fisherman's Wharf, the Painted Ladies row houses, maybe even find the Full House! Since I fly out of San Jose we are also going to visit the Winchester Mystery House. I've never been to SF or SJ. I can't wait!!!

I always usually have my phone so I just listened to Pandora, played Temple Run and observed the "wonderful" townies in the waiting room with me.

The last time I went to get my car serviced it took about 45 minutes. I had a book with me but also the garage owner's wife was there chatting with me and she had her dog with her so I played with her cute little doggy for a while. I just can't stand waiting rooms if I have nothing to do.

Well, when the Olympics is over, so is my summer vacation & I start a new job on Monday morning! I'm glad it worked out that way...a nice end to a nice, but always too short summer!

My professor just posted a syllabus for one of my grad classes. I'm nerding out, SO EXCITED and can't wait to begin. 8/29! I think it's the challenge I need and will help make me a better teacher. Next year will be even better because I'll be getting paid to intern as a Reading specialist!

My daughter's final season of her collegiate soccer career starts on Friday. So excited, but sad for the end; I've been watching her play soccer for almost 15 years!

I remember my dad talking about it a lot when I was a kid so I am very excited to finally see it myself.

Glad that I moved back to 2nd grade; this is more of my element. First grade is not for me anymore. It is funny until I tasted 2nd grade, I thought that 1st grade was the grade that was for me.
