I have a dear friend trying to get me a job in Cleveland and I'm trying to figure out if it's something I can reasonably pursue at this time. I hold a K-12 specialist license endorsed in music from IL, which I think would transfer as basically the same thing with no major extra requirements. I also have a pending middle school SS endorsement, which normally is 6-8, but for me is 5-8 because I'm already K-12 licensed. Does anyone know how that would transfer since that straddles two age ranges in OH? From what I'm reading, if I go for OH's middle grades, I'd also need 9 more hours of reading, but IDK if I can try for adolescence because I'd only be endorsed to 8 in IL. I'm having trouble finding the specific content hour requirements to know if I could do both.

Have you taken the PLT? That was a major factor that held up my transfer from PA. Thankfully, once I passed that, the rest was gravy.

I don't think they're using PLT anymore. The tests I'm seeing are OAE and Praxis only for specialty areas like speech/audiology. At least as far as transferring my music, it shouldn't matter because it appears that Ohio accepts the Illinois versions of the content area and PTA test. In IL, I've taken basic skills, content area, and professional skills with tech assessment embedded. If I try to transfer the SS, if I do it as middle grades, I'd have to take the OAE reading test.
My friend says Cleveland has 300 jobs to fill and I'd have to apply this month, so I'm trying to figure out what positions I can and can't do with what I've got from IL. Obviously, I won't have an OH license issued when I apply, but my friend has a friend in the system who's willing to flag my application to make sure a human sees it. I just don't want to be the idiot applying for 8th grade SS if I wouldn't have acceptable credentials in OH.
